Description
A culturally rich and immersive urban experience in Kenya’s vibrant capital.
For international volunteers visiting Kenya for the first time, the Nairobi City Tour offers a vibrant and eye-opening introduction to the country’s capital—often called the Green City in the Sun. This experience blends culture, history, wildlife, and everyday local life, providing a deeper understanding of Kenya beyond the volunteer placement.
Uniquely positioned as the only capital city in the world with a national park on its doorstep, Nairobi offers unforgettable contrasts. Volunteers will explore key highlights such as the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, where rescued elephants are rehabilitated, and the Giraffe Centre, home to the endangered Rothschild giraffe. A guided tour through Nairobi CBD introduces historic landmarks, markets, and the rhythm of city life.
To fully experience Nairobi like a local, participants will also ride a matatu—the city’s iconic public transport—offering a fun, authentic glimpse into daily Kenyan life. The tour includes time to visit the Maasai Market, where volunteers can interact with artisans and purchase handmade crafts as meaningful souvenirs.
